*SES Book Clubs*
About the book clubs:
Our Salem Elementary School Book Clubs take place during our 21st
Century After-School program. There is a 5th grade group that meets on Tuesdays and a 6th grade group that meets on Thursdays. Below there is a section of the webpage dedicated to each group. As the club progresses we will have updates and reviews on each club's book as well as pictures. :)

9-13-11: 1st and 2nd chapters of Savvy is awesome! Grandpa can stretch the states and Fish can make hurricanes. Momma is perfect and Rocket has electricity. Mibs doesn't have her savvy yet. Pappa is in the hospital from a car wreck. Can't wait till the next chapter!
9-20-11: Chapters 3-4, Grandma can catch radio waves and Poppa is still in the hospital. Miss Rosemary is mean! This is a good book so far!
9-27-11: I really like chapters 7-13!

11-1-11: Chapters 30-34 were the most suspenseful chapters we have read so far. In one part you think the dad is dying but we don't know if he is or not.

11-1-11: Chapters 30-34 were cool. It was surprising that Bill is Bobbi's brother. I'm glad they got to Salina safe.

11-1-11: Chapters 30-34...I loved it! They are awesome! My favorite part was when Lil said they were the perfect couple.

9-22-11: Chapters 1 & 2....best book ever!! It is awesome, it's epic, whatever you want to call it....it's just WHOA!!! You will love this book if you ever read it!

9-22-11: Chapters 1 and 2 were very good! My favorite part was when Grandma came.
9-28-11: Chapters 3-6 were awesome!!
10-6-11: Chapters 7-11 were awesome! My favorite part was when Aubrey went to the store and bought Savannah a birthday present...hopeing she would come home.
10-27-11: Chapters 12-20 were wonderful! My favorite part was when she stayed all night with Bridget. My least favorite part was when her mom came back because she is acting awful!
11-3-11: Very good. Aubrey made a good choice! My favorite part is when she moved to her grandmothers.

9-22-11: Chapters 1 and 2 were really, really exciting and make me want to read the rest of the book! My favorite part was when Aubrey didn't want to come out of her room until Grandma started cooking the chicken.
9-28-11: Chapters 3-6 were super-duper awesome!! I wish I could have read more but I couldn't. It made me really sad when I had to stop reading! My favorite part was when Aubrey and Bridget were using the garden house and were turning the grandmother's yard into a giant mud puddle and the grandmother yelled "stop waisting water"! Which was hilarious!
10-6-11: Chapters 7-11 have brilliant details! I thought it was really sad when she was describing the car wreck and also when she was acting crazy and trying to dig in the dirt to bring her family back but she really couldn't. She went to the toy store to get a present for Savannah even though she knew it wouldn't get to her...she just wanted her to know she didn't forget her birthday, which was nice. Then they just put it in the attic.
10-27-11: Chapters 12-20 was amazingly awesome! I don't like it that her mom came back and then left...that just isn't right. I think that if she was going to go to counseling she just shouldn't have come at all if she was just going to leave. My favorite part was when Gram and Mom where fighting and Aubrey just knows that her mom has come back.
11-3-11: I think it is a book that I would recommend to anyone who likes to read because it is exciting, kind of suspensful, makes you worry about Aubrey and feel like you are right there with her, and the author writes with such good detail. For example when she talks about there being air in the straw...I haven't known of another author who writes with such good detail that you actually feel like it is happening to you. My favorite part is when she is trying to decide if she should stay with her grandmother or go with her mother and decides to stay with her grandmother. I cannot wait to read the author's next book...Eight Keys because the author is so great!

9-28-11: Chapters 3 through 6, I really like this book! It was so good that I snuck and read ahead!!
10-27-11: Chapters 12-20 were good. My favorite part was when she said she almost tackled Gram to the ground because she was so happy to see her.
11-3-11: Love, Aubrey is very interesting. It was a very good book! My favorite part was when she threw up after eating too many M & Ms.

10-6-11: First day in book club....the book is intersting so far and it sounds really good!
10-27-11: Chapters 12-20 were interesting. What I didn't like is the way her mom didnt' come for Christmas. I liked the part where she ate a orange grilled cheese.
11-3-11: I think Aubrey made a good choice at the end. It is a good book!!! My favorite part of the whole book is the end of the book where she writes a letter to her Mom to tell her she wanted to stay with her Grandmother.
